Finally…some one stepped up to Bush and appealed to congress that this war is a ridiculous idea and by keeping it going you are only costing US military personnel their lives by having them fight in a losing effort. I think that Congressman Reid’s push to remove all the troops is a good thing because it will save a lot more lives than people realize; also it shows a lot of poise to continue with his bill even after the President said he would veto any time table set to remove the troops from Iraq. Although this bill is a great idea I think he went a little far with the “add-ons” when he requested 25 billion dollars, as if our country isn’t in enough debt from this war, for Hurricane Katrina help, Medicare for returning troops, and r
elief for the recent farm disasters. Reid should only worry about one problem at a time and right now that problem is how to get the troops back and in one piece; in the future I think these extra propositions will limit how fast this bill gets passes. Lastly, the other problem I see with removing troops from Iraq, is that if we leave Iraq now, while it is in turmoil, I think it will cause more problems for the United States in the future…from which another “war” like this may occur.

After the 911 attacks Bush had to make a decision to protect our country. He had so show not only the terrorists but the world that this country will stand for its freedom. Deciding to go into Iraq was the only option, not matter the reasons (weapons or not). Troops join the miliatary because they want to support America and its values. Troops join not so they can be supported by tax dollars and hang out and get in shape or get a free education, but they join knowing full well that if a war occurs then they are going to be commmitted to participate. However, currently the Iraqi people need help, but do not want us there. At this point we should remove as many troops as possible, but not all. Removing all will cause more problems for the iraqi people as well as Americans. Our priority should be to save the lives of troops that we can, and not add on more then what is needed to bills. If we are going to have piorities, lets live up to them, and get our troops home and not ask for more money to send to katrina victims that is a totally unrelated
