
Even though I agree with Al Sharpton and the fact that Imus’s comments were a little out of line, I do believe that he and the representative form Rutgers blew it way out or proportion; others could have made the same jokes but since Imus has a history of these comments, Sharpton wanted him of the air for good. I mean why people don’t go after the creators of South Park is beyond me, they make comments of the same magnitude, if not worse, and everybody just laughs along with them. Also, later in the interview Imus said “I can't get anywhere with you people,” and Al Sharpton assumed that the “you” was black people, which is a horrible way to think about the world…if you only think people can do wrong then why bother talking to them.
