Well it happened, Bush kept his word an vetoed the bill passed by the democratic congress which stated that they wanted a time table to bring back the troops form Iraq. The only problem with his veto is that it that it came at a time when his approval rating was at 28, miserable but the highest its been in a long time, and is sure to drop very far since this bill was backed by a lot of the American citizens. Also, the president has to realize that vetoing this bill will not stop the Democrats push, but possibly fuel the fire for them to get the bill passed; it may also gain a lot of Americans attention which could be very negative for Bush, who doesn’t please mo
st of them as it is. Only Bush can really defend himself in this situation which the decision that he made to veto the bill…"Our troops and their families deserve better, and their elected leaders can do better," Bush said. "Whatever our differences, surely we can agree that our troops are worthy of this funding and that we have a responsibility to get it to them without further delay," the president said.
