77 Cents For Every Dollar

“Many victims of pay discrimination who didn't immediately realize they were being paid less than others will have no remedy, even though the discrimination continues with every paycheck,” Kennedy said. With women earning only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men, the nation needs strong laws against pay discrimination. This is not what Congress intended when we passed the landmark Civil Rights Act of and we need to restore full protection against wage discrimination. Because of this wee need to change this rule to ensure that any future violations of pay discrimination does not happen, also we need to make sure that any company planning, or that already does, partake in these practices knows that they will be rightfully punished for their illegal actions. Even though I agree that this law needs to be amended, I do feel as though if after 19 years of working you don’t know the people around you make more then you maybe need to be talking at work more, or should have talked with management earlier in your employment. If you take this long to bring up a law suit against you employer, then maybe you don’t diverse to get any more money for the job you have been doing, because you don’t show any initiative in the things that need to be done, and maybe they were right to pay you less money.

Romney: Military Needs More Troops

I think that Romney is on the right track suggesting that we entered into the Iraq situation with to few troops and we need to send more troops over there to ensure that we don’t suffer any more casualties. I also think that he was on the right track when he talked about how wee need to keep our troops in Iraq until the problem “we” have created is solved, and if we where to bring the troops home I would only create future problems that could be worse than the ones now. Even though I agree with what he said, with regards to the troops, I don’t think it was the best thing for him to say this late in the presidential candidacy process, mainly because most Americans don’t feel that way; they want to bring the troops home and to send more would be sending them to their death. Also when he said he wanted to give president Bush’s plan a year of “wait and see” that is putting limitations on it and by doing so that year may not be long enough for the new troops to solve the problem and then we are right back here…with no solution in near sight.

"Law and Order" Star Runs For Presidency

It looks to me like all and every possible candidate seems to be coming out for this election, which means that there is no strong candidate and does not bode well for the top candidates for presidency, mainly because these new people are only taking away their votes. Although it seems like the election for governor of Californian, in which everyone believed they could have won, Fred Thompson has a legitimate reason to run, he was once a US senator and knows how the government runs and how the get things done in congress. He, does however, supported campaign finance reform, oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, elimination of funds for the National Endowment for the Arts and a constitutional amendment to ban flag desecration. He also favored a ban on a late-term abortion procedure and voted against requiring criminal background checks for purchases at gun shows. Do we really want a person as president that wants to ruin Alaska and ensure that any and everyone can own a gun? I think not…so lets hope that this is just a ploy to get him re-elected for a senate position down the line.

Bush Takes On Opponents of Immigration Deal

I think this bill does provides to much freedom for illegal immigrants in this country right now, even though Bush claims that the purpose of this bill isn’t amnesty for illegal immigrants he surely doesn’t say that it is not an added part: “a path to citizenship for some 12 million illegal immigrants already in the country.” This bill also shifts the system for awarding permanent residence status to give more weight to education and skills and less to family reunification, while conservatives have derided the plan for allowing illegal aliens to legalize their status. On the other hand if this bill was to pass I think it would make immigration issues in the United States a clearer cut issue, in which those who provide a service to this country are allowed to stay and those who don’t are sent back to Mexico.

I think this sums up all the problems that are going to appear due to this bill:
“But Mr. Bush and his allies on Capitol Hill are at a significant rhetorical disadvantage: conservative opponents can capture their objection to the bill in a single word — amnesty — while supporters are forced into the complex weeds of policy and the nuances of legislative language.”

Edwards: Move Past 'War on Terror'

"We need a post-Bush, post-9/11, post-Iraq military that is mission focused on protecting Americans from 21st century threats, not misused for discredited ideological purposes," Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery. "By framing this as a war, we have walked right into the trap the terrorists have set—that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war on Islam." Everything that Edwards is saying above is true wee, as an American government, need to focus on how to protect out citizens and then if that is accomplished we can focus on other worldly matters. The government needs to protect out soldiers fighting in Iraq, and by having there to fight a “world” war they aren’t even fighting for their loved ones at home, they are now fighting to save Bush and things need to change. I think that Edwards needs to change his mind on this issue of the war being a lost cause, not only do his opponents Obama and Clinton feel opposed to him, but by saying this many of the Americans who have soldiers in Iraq are feeling like he is crapping all over their efforts. Also, I think that Edwards needs to recognize that we can’t just “move past this war” and focus on Americans in the 21st century…this war is going to define the America of the 21st century and it needs to be handled with and not forgotten about.

Finally Congress Cracks Down On High Gas Prices

On Tuesday, this week, the House voted to allow the government to sue OPEC over oil production quotas, while on other hand the White House said that this was a bad idea and could threaten gas prices in the future. The measure would change antitrust laws so that the Justice Department can sue OPEC member countries for price-fixing, and would remove the immunity given a sovereign state against such lawsuits. In think that the House is nuts in wanting to sue OPEC mainly because they supply over 40 percent of crude oil to the United States, if this bill was to pass OPEC could cut of the United States from all oil supplies forever. “The White House objected, saying that might disrupt supplies and lead to even higher costs at the pump.” On the other hand OPEC needs to be put in their place and know that the world has other alternatives to them, even though they may not be recognized now, but eventually OPEC needs to lower their prices of the United States will go else where. “We don't have to stand by and watch OPEC dictate the price of gas," Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers said, Nevertheless, the House felt it was important to take on OPEC, the major player in oil production.

Democrats Retreat With Iraq Pullout Bill

Recently President Bush told Democrats in congress that he was going to veto their bill that stipulated a retraction date for all the troops in Iraq, because he said if we eave before the job it will have all been for nothing and leaving Iraq in shambles will only create more problems. After this had happened, which we all knew it would, the Democrats in congress have decided to take the retraction date out of their bill and focus more one the money we spend in Iraq and other things in the same area. I think by doing this the Democrats have accepted defeat and in doing so they let down the people of America, who supported their bill, and would have done all they could to see it pass. Also, by only focusing on the money involved in the Iraq war they have accomplished nothing that they set out to initially do; along with letting down the American citizens they also let down the troops in Iraq who are fighting in a losing effort. Maybe, though this was a good idea, to take out the retraction date, because if they left it in their any bill that was attached along with it would have never passed. What they should have done was continue to push the bill, seeing how Iraq is eating up enough of tax payers money, and just wait until a Democratic president was elected and have him approve the bill.

Senate Puts Off Immigration Action

Senate leaders agreed Monday that they would wait until June to take final action on a bipartisan plan to give millions of unlawful immigrants legal status. I think this was a good move by the Senate to push off this bill and deliberate on it starting after Memorial Day, by doing this they have opened up the floor to others who see problems with this bill; by doing ths they are able to amend the bill to please the majority of the people voting on it. I think that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said it the best: "I think we could, but I'm afraid the conclusion wouldn't be anything that anyone wanted.” Even though I may disagree with certain points in this bill, like giving illegal immigrants citizens status, I think this bill needs to be passed as soon as possible for the sake of all immigrants and American citizens. This bill will do a lot to help out county right now, it will secure our borders better in an effort to end the whole illegal immigrant problem and by giving American status to illegal immigrants we can tax them and have it contribute to the economy.

"For each of us who crafted it, there are elements that we strongly support and elements we believe could be improved. No one believes this is a perfect bill,"
---THEN WHY PASS IT ??????????????

Illegal Immigrants Bill Awaits Approval

There is no way in hell this proposed immigration bill should ever pass because all it is doing is giving people a free pass into this country, before those who have waited their time in line for it, and most of them are entering this country illegally. If this bill was to pass it would be rewarding those who illegally entered our country with amnesty from being kicked out and also tax breaks if they were to become citizens; not even American born people get that. Even though I may disagree with this bill and every other piece of immigrant legislation that would give illegal immigrants the ability to become citizens and give them the right to stay free in America, if there not here who is going to do the jobs they do? Part of me would just say, “let them stay in this country and don’t bother them.” Because it’s not like there taking jobs many Americans desire and without them it would probably hurt our economy; because who else are we going to find to clean houses and pick fruit for next to nothing?

Immigration Bill Offers To Much

In my opinion this most recent immigration bill, proposed by President Bush and group of bipartisan Senators, is going to do to much to help out people that illegally come into this country and just want to stay for the benefits then get such as tax breaks for their kids to go to school. Also the fact that they propose to give ALL illegal immigrants in this country temporary status seems like it may get out of hand and how are they going to find all of these immigrants; in the future they only plan to give work visas to the skilled and educators workers who want to come here. This is only going to cause more problems for congress because now they have to consider what is “skilled” and if we even need them in this country…I they if you came here illegally you need to get back over that boarder and stay there. There are a lot of negatives is this bill does not pass and is torpedoed in the Senate or the house: immigrants coming into the country under the temporary work program would have to leave when their permits expire, with no chance to appeal for permanent residence. Labor unions say such a system would depress wages and create an underclass. Along with this many of these “illegal immigrants” do the jobs that keep our economy were it is today, and many of there jobs no self respecting American would ever touch with a ten foot poll, so in a sense wee need them to keep out strong economy going in the right direction.

Bush Gets Ready For Iraq U-turn

After many good years as Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair will step down after he had regrettably followed Bush and the United States into war with Iraq, and also many failed peace talks with Northern Ireland. He will be followed by his close friend Gordon Brown, who will take over his party’s power and become the new Prime Minister; this does mean problems for Bush and his efforts in Iraq. The new Prime Minster has been noted as saying that what Blair did, send their troops to die in Iraq, will not be tolerated any more and he will end their fruitless effort with the war. This is a good idea since Bush initially forced Blair to help him out when Britain has nothing to gain by going to war and everything to lose by staying home; since Iraq never attacked them they sent troops to fight a battle that had nothing to do with them or their country. Even though Bush may give the new Prime Minister a hard time about retracting their troops he should stick with what is best for his country and their people, not what is best for America. Still I think that what Britain has helped us get into is partially their responsibility and if they were to extract their troops it would leave ours out to dry, and in doing so would leave all Americans, that still believe din the war, a sour taste with any regards to Britain in the future. Also if they took their troops out I think it would only cause future problems in which Britain may need Americas help and we may turn them down because of what happened now.

Bush White House Fires Back At Jimmy Carter

The White House on Sunday fired back at former President Jimmy Carter, calling him "increasingly irrelevant" a day after Carter described George W. Bush's presidency as the worst in history in international relations. Carter needs to recognize that a preemptive war may be the right answer in this situation, even though one terrorist attack happened on US soil it should not take any more for out government to take action; Carter should understand that drastic measures may need to be undertaken to protect our freedoms. Maybe this will be a wake up call for Bush and his administration to change their ideas and goals dealing with global impact, especially the situation in Iraq and also in Israel. Carter’s comments should be taken to hart, not only because it happens to be how most Americans feel, but it is also how many other countries feel about the USA in general; even though he has very little time left in his presidency Bush should at least go out on a good note…even though it may be very hard.

Read the story for yourself:

Carter Blasts Bush On His Global Impact

Initially I thought that past Presidents are supposed to support each other, and even the current President, since they all know how hard it is to have that job, but apparently Jimmy Carter missed that meeting as shown by his recent comments about President Bush’s global impact. After reading this article I think that Jimmy Carter should retract his statements made about Bush, even if they may be true, but regardless he should never come out and bash Bush’s global impact; he has not right mainly because he never had to deal with problems of this magnitude. Then to go on and say Bush’s administration is the “worst in the history,” with regards to their impact on the nation and the world, Jimmy should go back to his book writing and stay out of what he does not understand. Even though I think that Carter should have kept his comments to himself, what he said was not to far away from the truth, Bush and his administration has done very little if anything to help the USA’s international relations and impact. Carter also “criticized Bush for having "zero peace talks" in Israel. Carter also said the administration "abandoned or directly refuted" every negotiated nuclear arms agreement, as well as environmental efforts by other presidents.”

McCain Makes Waves Again

McCain was completely out of line with the comments he made towards Cornyn about immigration issues and how Cornyn has no business in there debates and should not even be allowed into the meetings. "[Expletive] you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room," is what McCain said in regards to Cornyn’s comments about how McCain has just come into these meeting form out of nowhere and should take a back seat to everyone else. Even though Cornyn maybe shouldn’t have said that, in no situation should McCain have used foul language and targeted Cornyn’s political character. You know what, the media and each politician’s side should just let shit like this go and chalk it up as another process involved in the Presidential campaign, and possibly use it as good PR and not deny what each of their candidates said by “declining to comment on the issue.” If there weren’t heated debates like this, even though it may have gotten a little out of hand according to Cornyn, then why would I want to vote for someone who isn’t passionate about the issues they stand on…being passive never got anyone elected and it never will.

Gore: USA Needs You To Prosper

In this article by the New York Times they discuss how the country wants Al Gore to come out of his “political retirement” and run again for president, probably because there is no truly strong candidate this year which the public believes can solve all the problems Bush has created. Personally I think that Al Gore should stay put where he is and continue on trying to help out planet not be destroyed by the “global warming” problem. Gore has done so much good since he has taken him self out of mainstream politics and whose to say that he would even be a good president, maybe he has lost his ambition for those type of things? Even though he has attempted to do a lot of good for our countries future, outside of the political world, mainly focusing on the environment with his movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” Gore should return to politics where he rightfully belongs. He would be very good for this country and would be able to get the USA out of the many problems Bush has caused us, and in doing so would have the public support; unlike Bush whose approval rating seem to be dropping by the minute. Gore needs to put his past presidential run behind him, even though he probably still thinks he should have one, and move on to better things; if he is president he will be able to end the “global warming” problem that he warns us all about.

Imus Returns Even With Pending Lawsuit

Today Don Imus made his attempt to return to radio and TV broadcasting, according to 4 close sources to him, mainly his lawyer who said that CBS has a duty to him and if they break it they are breaking their contract with him. Imus’s lawyer, Martin Garbus, says that if CBS continues on with their lawsuit and refuses to bring back Imus then they are in violation their contract with him and are liable to pay him over 40 million dollars for the breach of contract. Even though I think that Imus’s lawyer is talking out of his ass I don’t think that Imus should have been fired in the first place, because now many other shock jocks, even on XM radio, are being suspended and fired for crude comments. What CBS did is going to set a bad precedent within the radio world and is going to limit the freedom of speech that is out there, all because some CBS was afraid of losing their advertisement money. On the other hand Imus should just quit while he is behind, which he should have learned from before, but apparently he didn’t and this may cost him any future jobs with any/every radio station. By filing a breach of contract law suit against CBS Imus is still trying to say that what he did was right and his comments we not harmful…he need to recognize that they were and that he may never work on radio or TV again.

Army Not On Offensive...For The Time Being

Recently 4 US troops have gone missing, and at the worst presumed dead or captures, but this didn’t stop our heroic army from trying to find those troops at all costs which is what they should be doing. Regardless of how many hours or troops it takes every man or woman in the army should be accounted for before they move on, the soldiers care so much about each other that if they were to just say “he’s gone and now we have to move on” it would destroy the army’s moral. Even though no solider should be forgot or left behind the army needs to focus on the bigger picture, regardless of who may be affected by these men not being found, they need to ensure the safety on the soldiers they can account for so those aren’t kidnapped. The army took four thousand troops form the battle lines to look for these 4 soldiers that have been lost for a few days, to me this sounds very inefficient and a waste of those soldiers time which could be better spent securing Iraq so they can come home soon.

Campaign Promises Only Lead To Failure

Former President Bill Clinton said Friday that disasters such as worldwide famine and an obesity epidemic could destroy the U.S. health care system unless politicians begin to look ahead and cooperate. He went on to say governments fail to act even when disasters are anticipated, because leaders are distracted by fulfilling campaign promises and scrambling to respond to immediate emergencies. Big-picture planning gets "crowded out," he said. Clinton warned presidential candidates of both parties — a group that includes his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton –- that it will be hard, and likely unpopular, to prepare for foreseeable disasters.

SUVs, Not Recyling, Oh Yes And Babies Are Destroying Our Planet

According to experts in Australia when families have more than 2 babies they are destroying our country, albeit very slowly, but they are creating more carbon dioxide that will eventually add to the “global warming” problem. Along with Australia, the British are saying the same thing about having three kids versus having two kids, and that it is causing a lot more carbon dioxide to be released into the environment when they have to use their cars. On the other hand to say that one more kid is really going to change out climate is a load of crap you are going to drive the same amount regardless of if you have 2 or 3 kids; the extra trip to the doctor isn’t going to kill the environment any time soon. Lastly, having a big family is supposed to be a happy occasion and in most cases is used to be until certain people look too much into this paper published by some people who just want their names and ideas out there.

Democracts Whimp Out

Yesterday, after the overturn of the veto by congress failed, President Bush and the Democratic members of congress discussed a second bill that they both would have input on and this would ensure that the bill would pass without the threat of a Presidential veto. The reason why the Democrats decided to take this action is because their bill failed 222 to 203 in the House, and as everyone who owns a TV knows it was heavily and quickly vetoed by President Bush; however they still want the troops home, but have to take a different approach at it now. The main thing that the Democrats will have to give up is their time line for the end of the war and to bring troops home, which was the only reason why they proposed the Bill to congress. Since this has been taken out of the bill I have a hard time seeing exactly what the Democrats want to try and do with President Bush.

"We made our position clear. He made his position clear. Now it is time for us to try to work together…But make no mistake: Democrats are committed to ending this war." (House Speaker Nancy Pelosi)

The War Begins: As Iraq Bill Is Vetod

Well it happened, Bush kept his word an vetoed the bill passed by the democratic congress which stated that they wanted a time table to bring back the troops form Iraq. The only problem with his veto is that it that it came at a time when his approval rating was at 28, miserable but the highest its been in a long time, and is sure to drop very far since this bill was backed by a lot of the American citizens. Also, the president has to realize that vetoing this bill will not stop the Democrats push, but possibly fuel the fire for them to get the bill passed; it may also gain a lot of Americans attention which could be very negative for Bush, who doesn’t please most of them as it is. Only Bush can really defend himself in this situation which the decision that he made to veto the bill…"Our troops and their families deserve better, and their elected leaders can do better," Bush said. "Whatever our differences, surely we can agree that our troops are worthy of this funding and that we have a responsibility to get it to them without further delay," the president said.

Bush Reacts To Iraq Bill's Passing

President Bush recently took a stab at the Bill, just recently passed by the Senate, which would require a timetable for withdrawing out troops form Iraq and according to him would leave Iraq in a state of chaos. I agree with what Bush is saying about how if the military was to leave Iraq it would not help anyone, it would provide a safe haven for terrorism to grown and for terrorist to plot more attacks against our country. Also, we can’t leave the Iraq government structure the way it is now, because by now having a strong government Iraq will only fall deeper into the civil war they are fighting now. Reid, however, does make many strong points to withdrawal out troops form Iraq; we need to bring them back for their won safety and not leave them there to die in the middle of a civil war they don’t need to be fighting/dying in. Also, we need to end this stupid 4 year onslaught on terrorism which has yielded almost nothing for the time and money our country has put into it…we need a change and it all starts by this bill passing and sending our troops home.

Illegal Immigrants Want Rights Too

Today, May 1st 2007, is a national immigration rally known as “May Day,” in which many immigrants, most of them happen to be undocumented, gather in the streets of major cities and protests for equal treatment in all aspects of thief life. I some sense of it I agree that they, legally document aliens, should be treated with the same dignity and be subject to the same treatment under the laws as American born citizens, because without past immigration out great nation would never be were it is today. As for the illegal immigrants they should not be given the same rights as the document ones, but none the less they should not be immediately deported since they happen to do the jobs that most Americans don’t even want to do: gardening, house cleaning, nanny, etc…and they don’t take the jobs away from Americans. On the other hand if they are breaking into our country illegally why the hell should they be entitled the rights that the people who pay taxes, and contribute to our country, are entitled to; they should either be given a chance to earn a work visa or get the hell out of here. Also, they want money for there kids to go to school and this money is coming from taxpayers who have to deal with their own problems and their taxes should not go to help those who don’t even pay them. Lastly many illegal immigrants say they come to American because it is a necessity for them to survive, and I don’t believe that is true since the quality of life they live cant be that much better than the one they had before they cam here.
